As February is Black History Month, there’s no better time to celebrate both a great player and manager, Cito Gaston. Gaston was the first black manager to win a World Series, doing it twice with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Yesterday, the 16-person Contemporary Era Baseball committee voted on the eight nominees on the ballot regarding managers, umpires, and executives who were looking to earn their place in the Hall of Fame.
I hoped that Cito Gaston would make it into the Hall of Fame tonight, but looking at some of the other managers on the ballot, I could see it was a long shot.
