Three biggest takeaways from Steelers' Week 5 win

It wasn't pretty, but the Pittsburgh Steelers are now 3-2 (2-0 in the AFC North) and have the division lead following their 17-10 win over the Baltimore Ravens. Here are the three biggest takeaways from Pittsburgh's Week 5 win.

Keep throwing to George Pickens

Good things tend to happen when the Steelers throw the ball to WR George Pickens, and that remained true on Sunday. The second-year wide receiver had six catches for 130 yards and the game-winning touchdown late in the fourth quarter. 

QB Kenny Pickett has been targeting Pickens more and more with WR Diontae Johnson's absence. Johnson is likely to return from his hamstring injury after Pittsburgh's bye in Week 6, which should help this struggling offense, but the team must continue giving Pickens opportunities to make game-changing plays.

It's time to start the rook

CB Joey Porter Jr., the No. 32 overall pick and son of former LB Joey Porter, has impressed through the first five games of the season. However, he has struggled to see the field consistently with veteran cornerbacks Patrick Peterson and Levi Wallace on the roster. That should no longer be the case.

Porter Jr. proved once again that he should be a starter. He made a touchdown-saving interception that aided a Steelers' comeback win and has proved worthy of his draft slot. Peterson and Wallace have allowed several big plays this year, so it's time for Pittsburgh to turn to its rookie cornerback. Head coach Mike Tomlin doesn't seem opposed to the idea.

"Porter's been playing increasingly more with each passing week," Tomlin told reporters. "He's done a solid job with the work given, and so, today he got more. He did a nice job with the work he was given today."

Steelers taking control of rivalry

Ravens vs. Steelers has been one of the best rivalries in football, but lately it's been one-sided. Pittsburgh has now won six of the last seven meetings. Heading into the matchup, the Steelers were the only team against which Lamar Jackson has thrown more interceptions than touchdown passes in his career, per ESPN's Jamison Hensley.

This remains true following another underwhelming performance by Jackson, who has now thrown for four touchdowns and seven interceptions and fumbled five times in four games vs. Pittsburgh. Jackson is 1-3 against the Steeers in his career and will have to wait until Week 18 to get his revenge.
