Steelers' Rival Interested in Byron Leftwich for OC Job

Pittsburgh Steelers fans are keeping hope alive that the team will add another offensive mind to their coaching staff to assist Matt Canada and company. And at the top of many fan's lists is former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich.

The Steelers have competition, though. According to The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec, the Baltimore Ravens have spoken with Leftwich about their open offensive coordinator job.

For the Steelers, it's good news that right now, it's unclear if Leftwich is considered a second-round interview candidate. That being said, for those who are hoping the former Steelers' quarterback comes back to Pittsburgh, going to Baltimore is a worst-case scenario.

Leftwich was part of a mass firing in Tampa Bay after the team struggled in 2022. The Buccaneers had one of the worst rushing attacks in the NFL and fell just above the Steelers in points per game, only a year removed from being the second-best scoring team in football.

If Pittsburgh was to consider Leftwich, he'd fill a role much like Brian Flores is on defense as a senior assistant. Team president Art Rooney II said he is open to the addition and that more changes to the coaching staff could be coming this offseason.
