Jacksonville Jaguars' five biggest needs heading into the 2024 NFL Draft
Morgan Tencza-USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars are gearing up for the 2024 NFL Draft, as is everyone else, but they have a list they need to make first. They need to determine what positions they should target in the 2024 NFL Draft. Luckily for them, I can make that list.

After the last two seasons, it's fair to say this year is huge, especially when you factor in what comes after this with Trevor Lawrence's potential contract extension. He is going to get paid, so making the playoffs in this upcoming season and competing for a Super Bowl is where their minds need to be while they still have a QB on a rookie deal.

So, let's hope they nail this draft and get some players they think can help them compete right away. To do that, they need to address five particular positions.

Jaguars' five biggest draft needs

Cornerback

The Jaguars made two defensive back signings in free agency. They signed Bradley Roby to play on the outside and Darnell Savage to play nickel. While those two will be great additions to Tyson Campbell, who is a budding star, that isn't going to be good enough, especially in the AFC South, where teams like the Houston Texans have three No. 1 wide receivers.

This cornerback class is super deep, and they could really target the position on day one or two and still get a guy who can be a key contributor or a great depth piece. If they go with a cornerback in the first round, I could see them taking Terrion Arnold, Cooper DeJean, Nate Wiggins, and others.

Wide Receiver

The Jaguars just signed Gabe Davis after losing Calvin Ridley, but they still need another wide receiver. You want your star quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, to have as many weapons as possible. Right now, they have Davis, Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, and Parker Washington as players who can make a real impact.

After those first two players, the group is a little underwhelming, even with Zay Jones. The Jaguars are fortunate to have another need that happens to be a deep position in this draft. I would watch for the Jaguars to target guys like Brian Thomas Jr., A.D. Mitchell, Xavier Worthy, and others.

Interior Offensive Line

The biggest issue with the offense last year had to be the inside of the offensive line. That goes for the guard and center positions. The center position was the worst, whether it be Luke Fortner not blocking well or having bad snaps. They have to fix that.

Now, they re-signed guards Brandon Scherff and Ezra Cleveland and moved to sign Mitch Morse in free agency as the center. However, the depth is still pretty bad. I'd look for them to draft an interior offensive lineman on day three.

Defensive Tackle

The Jaguars signed Arik Armstead this offseason after losing several defensive linemen. But they still need more there. They need depth and guys who help Travon Walker and Josh Allen. This draft is not as deep at defensive tackle, but it does have some really good players.

If they can get a guy like, say - Byron Murphy and develop him into something great, they could end up having the best defensive line in the league.

Edge Rusher

Sure, they signed Josh Allen to a mega deal. Sure, they have Travon Walker, who is turning into a superstar. But look at who's behind them. Yes, they have one of the best edge-rushing duos in the league, but they have very little depth behind those guys.

This draft isn't deep at edge rusher, but there are some diamonds they can get that would be great if Travon Walker moves inside on obvious passing downs. They can snag some good players at the position, which they will need to do after losing the guys they lost.
