Chicago Bears Could Get Two Generational Talents in 2024 NFL Draft, Say Experts

The Chicago Bears can already be considered quite blessed with two first-round picks in April’s NFL Draft. They are especially blessed to have two picks within the top 10. To top off the good fortune, they currently have the overall no. 1 pick– a pick they are reportedly all but set to use on USC blue-chip quarterback prospect Caleb Williams, who many feel is one of two generational talents in this draft class.

By the time Chicago gets to their second first-round selection — at ninth overall — they will still be able to choose an elite-level impact player.

Could the Chicago Bears Get Marvin Harrison, Jr.?

But what if the team could somehow grab the other generational talent in this class: wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. of Ohio State?

Jacob Infante, lead NFL draft analyst of Windy City Gridiron, has brought up the possibility of the Bears possibly trading up to get a chance at drafting the multi-tool Harrison.

“At what point would you [consider] trading up for Marvin Harrison Jr. if you’re the #Bears?” Infante wrote via Twitter/X. “I still think he’s drafted as WR1, but let’s say the Cardinals go [Malik] Nabers and the Chargers trade down with a team for [J.J.] McCarthy. Would you give up capital to get MHJ or wait for [Rome] Odunze?”

That social media rhetorical question brought up quite a bit of speculation from those interested observers willing to work out the math needed to make such a move possible for Chicago.

Getting The Deal Done

Brad Spielberger of Pro Football Focus recently proposed a trade for the Bears that would see them dealing away their ninth and 75th picks to New Orleans for the Saints’ 14th, 45th, and 168th picks.

If Spielberger’s trade played out, Max Dible of Heavy.com sees a real path opening for the Bears to trade up into the top 6 of the draft.

“If Chicago made that deal, or a similar one,” Dible wrote, “the Bears could turn around and offer the 14th and 45th overall selections to the Giants for pick No. 6, the Chargers for pick No. 5 or the Cardinals for pick No. 4.”

That’s a lot of maneuvering and scheming needed to get Harrison into draft position for the Bears. Scouts are absolutely enamored with Harrison’s abilities and mindset and it would be awesome to add such an offensive weapon to Caleb Williams’ tool box– one with whom the standout quarterback can grow and develop.

However, many insiders feel that Rome Odunze is also an elite-level wide receiver and that he very well could be available when it’s time for Chicago to make their ninth-overall selection in the draft.

Fans will just have to wait and see what the Bears front office has in mind when it comes to this upcoming draft.
