Jordan Spieth continues to be haunted by one hole at the Masters

Jordan Spieth imploded on the 15th hole at the Masters for the second time in his career on Friday.

Spieth's struggles mirrored what he endured over seven years ago when he recorded a quadruple bogey on the 15th hole in the first round of the 2017 Masters. Spieth ended that tournament tied for 11th at one-under 287, so the disaster of No. 15 likely cost him at least a top-10 finish.

The 30-year-old is a three-time major victor, picking up his first championship at the 2015 Masters at just 21 years old. In 2015, Spieth won the U.S. Open and finished second at the PGA Championship.

His only other title came at the 2017 Open Championship.

Since then, Spieth has gained a reputation as one of the more inconsistent pros on the PGA Tour.

He's currently ranked 18th globally but has also become well-known for some wild tee shots.

In March 2023 alone, he had two viral moments. The first came when his tee shot on the 18th hole at the Players Championship ricocheted off a fan, saving him from the water and helping him make the cut.

Later that month, an errant hit by Spieth broke a kid's cell phone at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.

Spieth started the opening round on Thursday with a double bogey, before recording one birdie, six pars and one bogey to finish the front nine with a two-over 38. He started off the back nine hot as the action was pushed to Friday due to a weather delay, carding three straight pars and a birdie on holes 10-13.

A bogey on the 14th kept him even on the back nine and a reasonable two-over overall before everything fell apart on the 15th. Spieth closed with two pars and a bogey, but the damage had been done.
