Jack Nicklaus boldly claims Tiger Woods will NOT SURPASS his majors wins record following recent injuries
Rob Schumacher-USA TODAY Sports

As the name of Tiger Woods continues to trend due to his split with Nike, golf fans have been wondering what is next in store for him. As the 48-year-old contemplates his future, golf legend Jack Nicklaus has dropped a bold claim regarding him.

While Woods is considered one of the greats of all time, Nicklaus is considered an icon of the game. Before the Cypress native started making trends in the late 90s and early 2000s, Nicklaus had already seen it all and won it all. The Golden Bear has now claimed that Woods will not surpass his major wins.

While the debate in the golfing community continues regarding who is the better player, both golfers have applauded and praised each other. The 83-year-old veteran currently holds the record for the most major wins in golf with 18 with Woods right behind in on 15.

At one stage, Woods looked to be on pace to smash that record while claiming 14 major wins from 1997 to 2008. However, injuries and personal issues cost him a lot of time and saw a huge drop in his form. The 82-time PGA Tour winner though did bounce back in 2019 with his fifth Masters win but has since been plagued with injuries again.

If he remained healthy I think he would’ve gotten it, but he didn’t remain healthy...I feel bad for him...Oh, I think it [his majors wins record] will probably stand for a while. Jack Nicklaus on Tiger Woods as per NBC Sports.

Jack Nicklaus labels LIV Golf as “powerful addition” to golf

While the debate around who the better play among Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods is, there is another similar debate regarding which circuit is better, the PGA Tour or LIV Golf. Jack Nicklaus has now labeled the breakaway tour as a “ powerful addition” to golf.

As the merger talks between the two tours continue to evolve, the 18-time major champion claims they have done better than many imagined they would.

I don’t really know where they’re going. I hope that they get this thing together all in the best interest of the game of golf. The LIV thing has been a powerful addition to the game, probably impacted a lot more than we thought it was going to. Jack Nicklaus on LIV Golf on Golf Channel.

These words from Nicklaus gives the golf fans to think about LIV Golf and it’s impact. Recently Rory McIlroy also made a stunning U-turn when he claimed he was too judgmental towards LIV Golf.

Greg Norman, the CEO of the 54-hole circuit, then thanked McIlroy for his words. With the move of Jon Rahm, the reigning Masters champion to them, the PIF-funded tour is aiming to become the big tour of golf going forward.
